Why do our pets need annual health screenings?
Our pets can't speak, they cannot tell us if they feel unwell or have any other indicators of internal illness. We need to examine them every 6-12 months to detect underlying diseases BEFORE it is clinically apparent. Pets will actively mask signs of illness until late in the course of disease. This stems from survival instincts in a pack or colony situation. Routine health screenings change as our pets grow older. As they age, they require more in-depth screenings, such as monitoring thyroid, liver and kidney levels. We will discuss the right screening for each of your pets at their annual exam.

Is it a good idea to let my pet have at least one litter?
No, there is no advantage to letting your pet have one litter. However, there are plenty of advantages to having your pet spayed or neutered. The advantages of spaying females includes decreasing the chances of mammary tumors and removes the chance of cystic ovaries and uterine infections. Neutering males decreases the desire to roam the neighborhood which prevents the surplus of unwanted puppies and kittens. It also decreases the risk of developing prostate cancer and helps prevent spraying and marking.
